Word Garden is a digital space curated by the writer, Sarah Butler. It is a commission by UP Projects as part of the Secret Garden Project.
Sarah’s writing is inspired by urban and public spaces, where chance encounters and unexpected connections are daily occurences. She runs the literature and regeneration consultancy, UrbanWords, and her recent commissions include Central line Stories (for Art on the Underground), Tideline (a public art commission and residency in Lower Belvedere, London Borough of Bexley), Almost an Island? (a residency on the Greenwich Peninsula), and Home From Home (a text and photography project in the Elephant and Castle).
Sarah will be creating new pieces of online writing inspired by the other Secret Garden Project commissions, conversations with project artists and with audiences. Read the latest blog entry here, and get involved here.
The Secret Garden Project is a new programme of temporary commissions and pop up art events by young and established artists created specially for a trail of London’s secret gardens, lesser known green spaces, and urban corners. The Secret Garden Project website gives full information about all the commissions and associated events.
