Together, we make something stronger than ourselves. Duck beneath, dance above; we twist red, white and blue into a line of rope you might swing from. Maypole music. Sliced sunshine. We are dressed for the occasion: bowties and strapless dresses, polished leather shoes.

Every movement matters. There’s no space here for frivolity, though it’s all about the fun – the breeze on your face, the smile on your lips, the music.

Human bobbins. We weave. Dance weft through warp. Loop coloured string around waiting pillars. We give a space back to itself; we remind you that it used to exist. Webs across bricks across long forgotten water. Duck dive. Dream.

Roofless, waterless. Iron rafters lean over grass where kids used to swim; bare legs in cold water; echoing laughter. They remember lines of single cubicles, clusters of clothes waiting for their owners; wooden benches still marked by the wet skin of the one before, and the one before that.

A child plays hide and seek. A woman waits. A man escapes from the city to drink coffee beneath an iron archway. He remembers reading that the Greek statues – cold white marble – once glowed turquoise and gold.

In anticipation of The Hanging Garlands of Tibby Place event, Thursday 15th July, 6-8pm Tibby Place, Greenman Street, N1. See the Secret Garden Project website for more details.
